The Enrique Mendoza Chardonnay White Wine Fermented in Barrel from Bodegas Enrique Mendoza presents this white wine from the D.O. Alicante, created from 100% Chardonnay grape varieties and from the El Chaconero Estate, in the area called “Cabezo de la Virgen” in Villena.

Preparation and Aging: The grapes are macerated for 3 hours to ferment at low temperature (16°C) in new French Allier oak barrels, remaining with their lees and yeasts for 6 months.

El Chaconero Estate

The Finca El Chaconero is located in the district of Las Virtudes, next to the Virgen de las Virtudes Sanctuary, west of Villena; Called by the oldest people of the place “Las Quebradas” due to its pedology, the subsoil strata are not horizontal but oblique, with the result being a large number of small plots with totally different soils. On the same farm we can find gravel, sandy-silty lands and totally sandy lands.

DO. Alicante

In the province of Alicante, the influence of the Mediterranean Sea is very characteristic, whose sea breezes circulate through the mountainous corridors that have created the Carrascal de la Font Roja Natural Park and the Protected Landscape of the Sierra del Maigmó, which provide greater freshness to the leaf surface.

In the province there are two areas with very different climates and soils: The Mediterranean coast, whose sea breezes exert a great influence on the vineyards of coastal municipalities. And another inland area in the Alto Vinalopó region, with altitudes of more than 600 meters above sea level, where sea breezes also reach with great influence through the natural mountain corridors. In this pre-plateau area of Alicante we find adult vineyards in soils with a high presence of calcareous stones, crust, stones and sand.
