Whisky Laphroaig Triple Woods

This whiskey owes its name to the type of aging that is you, since it goes through 3 different cask types. First through oak barrels which have contained American bourbon, then has a step of aging barrels "Quarter Cask" barrels that were used in the 19th century to make whisky and that today are disused. Finally a step of whiskey barrels that have contained Oloroso.

Nose:  

the initial scent is pretty sweet with a nice mixture of raisins and creamy apricot with a light trace of peat in the background. With a touch of water, peat smoke deploys and masking the earlier notes of fruit. Even with her way through barrels of Bourbon, Quarter Cask and Oloroso, the smoky aroma of peat can not masquerade.


Mouth:  

Without water, a large initial burst of peat belies the slight lack in the nose, but softens in the language by the creamy flavors of vanilla and fruit with just a suggestion of the sweetness of the sherry. With a little water the smell of peat is softened, allowing the more complex flavors of citrus and spices to go forward. A slight flavor appears in European oak oloroso that balances the creaminess of the American White Oak.
