The Red Wine Can Sumoi Sumoll-Garnatxa from Can Sumoi Winery (Raventós i Blanc group) presents this red wine from the D.O. Penedés, made from grape varieties 50% Garnacha and 50% Sumoll.

Preparation: Skidding and soft tread in inert atmosphere. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 22 and 28°C, with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard and skins for 15 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously.

Aging: 12 months in stainless steel tanks.

Bottling: Closure with natural cork from the Mediterranean forest of Les Gavarres, Girona.

Recommended service temperature: Between 12 and 14ºC.

Can Sumoi is the project of Pepe Raventós (Raventós i Blanc) that was born from his passion for natural wines and his desire for research. After touring the Penedés in search of high altitude land, he finally found it in the Coll de les Ventoses, on a hill that rises 600 meters above the level of the Mediterranean Sea: the Sierra de l'Home, with a unique geology that It gives the final product a unique character. There it has recovered a biodynamic farm that has existed in Can Sumoi since 1645, where natural high-altitude wines are now made with minimal intervention in its viticulture and winemaking processes.

DO. Penedes

The land of the D.O. Penedés is wide and open and extends along a large strip of territory between sea and mountains, halfway between Barcelona and Tarragona.

In the heart of the Catalan Pre-Litoral Depression, between the Pre-Litoral Mountain Range and the small plains of the Mediterranean coast, the Penedés vineyards mature. Three different areas constitute the Designation of Origin: the Penedés Superior (close to the Pre-Litoral Mountain Range), the Penedés Marítimo (next to the sea and in the Litoral Mountain Range) and the Central Penedés (between one area and the other).

The region has a great diversity of microclimates, a consequence of its coastal proximity and its altitude. The climate is typically Mediterranean, that is, mild and warm. The Penedés Marítimo area (Baix Penedès and Garraf) is more temperate due to the influence and proximity of the sea. The Upper Penedés (Alt Penedès, Alt Camp, Anoia and Baix Llobregat) enjoys more frequent rainfall and greater contrast between maximum and minimum temperatures. The Central Penedés (mainly Alt Penedès) is the compendium of both microclimates.
